Adele might have just overestimated her core audience's interest in physical media. Either that or someone at her label should be getting fired for manufacturing way too much vinyl. In a now viral post, dozens upon dozens of Adele's most recent album 30 are sitting on a Goodwill shelf for $9.99 a pop.



The internet was quick to point out the irony, as the record was allegedly the 'Best-selling vinyl album of 2021' according to Billboard.



It's no secret that vintage mediums such as vinyl and even cassette tapes are becoming popular once again. We've come full circle, and it makes sense that Adele would want to take advantage of that. But for someone who has amassed over 1.5 billion Spotify streams on this album alone, it's easy to see that a majority of her fans just prefer the digital version.


Maybe the interest was there in 2021, but now that everybody has listened to all 12 songs on loop, nobody's really in the market for a 2-year-old vinyl. 





The biggest smack in the face might just be that Adele single-handedly sent vinyl pressing plants into overdrive with this album. According to Variety, 500K copies of the record were pressed and other artists suffered because of it. It's now 2023 and the vinyl that Adele steamrolled other artists for, sits next to an extra-large Brett Favre jersey, and a pair of neon roller skates.
