Sure, watching strippers dance is cool and all, but have you ever seen them count?

On TikTok, many strippers — who may call themselves “spicy dancers” or “accountants” to avoid getting banned on the platform — are racking up views by posting videos of themselves doing the seemingly unsexy act of counting stacks of cash.

But these stacks are anything but short, and the counting is oh so satisfying. Many such dancers are making thousands of dollars for a single night of work. In fact, more often than not, they’re making so much cash that counting in their hands just won’t do. That means they’re feeding stack after stack into a personal money-counting machine, which makes a blissful and gratifying “whirrr” as it totals up the bills.

To give you some perspective — a 25-year-old Miami-based sex worker and dancer who goes by @caitlinsometimescherry on TikTok allegedly made over $380,000 in 2023. Of that amount, she said, just $11,600 came from OnlyFans and Pornhub combined. The rest was made up of tips from her work as a stripper.

On StripTok, showing off your earnings by counting tips on camera is now just part of the gig. And when the comments come rolling in, they’re usually the same: Some viewers regret their career choices (“I’m living the wrong life!”), while others are there to cheer the dancers on (“Girl! That’s what I make in a week at a 9-5! You win!!!”). For these reasons, mixed with the very ASMR sounds of counting paper by hand or through a machine, the videos routinely keep audiences coming back for more.

As for the dancers, many see it as an industry-specific take on a “day-in-the-life” TikTok trend. “Friday night money count just for you guys,” reads the caption for one of such videos; “Count my tips with me [on] my first day as a dancer in Miamiii!!!!” writes another TikToker; and “Come work with a Vegas stripper,” teases another creator in her video.

While some strippers warn that these amounts aren’t exactly typical for those just starting out, others say the videos help normalize their work as real work.

Of course, every dancer adds their own take, humor and approach, which means it’s not just the total that’s going to change every time.
