The “Hawk Tuah” meme has shown no signs of slowing down, to the point that the “Hawk Tuah” girl is now being interviewed on Barstool Sports podcasts and has obtained representation.

Making her podcast debut on PlanBri Uncut, the girl, whose real name is Hailey Welch, cleared up a few misconceptions about her background: She is not, and has never been, a teacher, so she was not fired from her position for going viral. Instead, she worked in a spring factory. She also points out that, at 21, she’s not old enough to be a teacher. In addition, her dad isn’t a preacher, and in fact “is so far from being a preacher it’s crazy,” causing Welch to add that basically none of the things we’ve heard about her are true.

One thing that is true is that she’s experiencing her 15 seconds of fame, a high point of which was probably appearing on stage with Zach Bryan (who is, not so coincidentally, Brianna Chickenfry of PlanBri’s boyfriend) and a low point of which was when the man who makes her hats was offered $600 to get her to spit in a jar. Fairly mild considering this is the same internet on which Belle Delphine was selling her bath water, but it’s a creepy request, and to go through her hatmaker? Downright bizarre.

People who go viral typically follow one of two paths: 1) successfully leverage it into fully-fledged careers as influencers, or 2) fade into obscurity, either after trying and failing to become influencers or just by deciding not to try and monetize their viral moment. Based on what we’ve seen so far, it would appear Hawk Tuah girl is trying to turn this into a real career despite deleting all of her social media accounts six months ago.

Strap in girl, for better or worse, social media is about to become your entire existence.
