16 Anechoic Chambers That Look Like Sci-Fi Movie Sets

These are the quietest rooms in the world.

Anechoic chambers are spaces designed to eliminate any and all vibrations. Some lined with foam wedges are built exclusively to cancel out sound, recording or testing audio equipment. Others are lined with carbon-loaded foam and magnetic silicones to cancel out electromagnetic waves. These rooms are used for testing equipment that emit radio waves, like 5G devices and antennas.

All the science aside, these places look like spiky, sci-fi prisons where no one would ever be able to hear you – and that’s terrifyingly cool.
