It’s official – SpongeBob SquarePants is on the spectrum. At the Motor City Comic-Con this week, the voice actor for Spongebob, Tom Kenny, said he always viewed Spongebob as having autism. He went on to call this autism Spongebob’s “superpower.”

The reaction has been all over a spectrum, with many people praising representation and disability acceptance, while less enlightened people are raging that a talking yellow cartoon sponge is apparently a little too weird.
