Today marks the 78th anniversary of the invasion of Normandy.
We wanted to take a minute and remember the sacrifices made that day. Some of these photos are graphic in nature, but they're also an important part of our history. A huge thank you to Imperial War Museums, The National WWII Museum, as well as Marina Maral and Royston Leaonard for their masterful colorization of photos from that day.
We've included both black and white and colorized photos that show the brutality, horror, and carnage from the beaches of Normandy. Many risked their lives that day, and those still living today have stated that they saw things 78 years ago, that no 19-year-old should ever see.
Just another reminder of where we've been, so that history (hopefully) doesn't repeat itself. And of course a massive thank you to all who have served and continue to serve, so that we get to live normal enough lives in this country.
