17 Trains That Turned Cars into Tin Cans

Most railroad crossings have all the bells and whistles, literally.

They have special lights, alarms, barrier arms, and all the signage one could wish for to avoid being hit by a train Yet sometimes, that isn’t enough.

Obviously, some rural crossings might not, depending on where you are, but even so, freight trains are huge and noisy. If you calculated the hundreds of miles of road and railway and then pinpointed all the points where the two pieces of infrastructure intersect and then calculated the thousands of miles that each train and road vehicle might travel in its life surely the chances of trains hitting vehicles would be very slim?

Maybe cars are attracted to trains like a moth being drawn to an iron lamp weighing thousands of tonnes traveling at a hundred miles an hour with a huge stopping distance.

Or maybe it's human distraction, impatience, and stupidity.
