The smaller and younger the baby animal, the cuter it is. 

This is an accepted tenet of our culture. But go too small and too young, and the cuteness evaporates and is replaced by extraterrestrial weirdness.

These animal embryos look more like tiny visitors from the Andromeda galaxy than anything you’ll see on the X Files. I’m sure if you were abducted by greys, these would be the framed pictures on their desks. To think, with just a little more time to develop, these little aliens could be contenders for cutest creatures of the year, but for now, they’re stuck in the uncanny valley.
