David Cronenberg is a master of sci-fi and body horror. 

His movies bring us into a world of fleshy explosions, heads splitting open, and monsters that make most horror movies look tame. When you see the behind-the-scene pics, you realize that this is all rubber and fake blood, and it takes a ton of work.

Watching the actual work is maybe just as entertaining as the movie. Seeing Cronenberg work out the logistics of an alien puppet smoking a cigarette, or how to get a hand holding a gun to stretch through a fleshy TV screen is totally insane. Also, to see the man himself and realize he’s not some scary sci-fi wizard, but just a nerdy guy who looks like a Dad at work, is pretty jarring and fun.
